Three community open house meetings are scheduled for March and April to discuss the status of the pending closure for road replacement work on the Vincent Thomas Bridge.
The California Department of Transportation will conduct the sessions, one of which will be virtual, to update the public on the project’s status and construction schedule.
The meetings are scheduled for:
Wednesday, March 18: In person from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. at the San Pedro Regional Branch Library, 931 S. Gaffey St.
Thursday, March 19: In person from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilmington Recreation Center, 325 N. Neptune Ave.
Thursday, April 2: Virtual from 6 to 8 p.m. Register via Webex.
Each meeting will offer a presentation from Caltrans personnel detailing the project’s status and preliminary construction work schedule. Preliminary work is set to begin on March 23 and continue throughout 2026, leading up to the full closure.
A question-and-answer period will be included at each event and recordings of the meetings will be subsequently shared online.
The meetings are part of Caltrans’ public outreach for the Vincent Thomas Bridge Deck Replacement Project.
A critical infrastructure project totaling more than $700 million, the deck replacement will require partial and full closures of the bridge over the next two years. More information, including a timeline that is updated, is available at the project website.
Skanska-CEC Joint Venture is the general contractor for the project.
