LOS ANGELES, CA — Though the race for mayor is the most prominent contest ahead of the June primary election, there’s competition for several other city offices.
The list of candidates in the running for Los Angeles city offices was finalized earlier this month. Thirteen candidates are seeking to unseat Mayor Karen Bass as she seeks a second term.
The city attorney and controller are both among the incumbents facing challenges for their seats.
Six incumbent city council members are running against at least one other candidate. And the races for council districts 3 and 9 are wide open; sitting council members in those districts are not seeking reelection.
Voters on June 2 will vote for their top pick for mayor and several other seats in the primary election. The two highest vote getters in each race will advance to the November general election, where winners will be chosen.
