SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The heat is on as the Bay Area gets hit with an unprecedented historic heat wave for the month of March that’s expected to break several records.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of the region that took effect at 10 a.m. Monday and runs until 8 p.m. Friday.

TIMELINE: Unprecedented heat wave hitting Bay Area with record-setting March temperatures

ABC7 meteorologist Drew Tuma says this level affects people sensitive to heat, especially those without access to cooling and hydration. He says keep in mind this is our first heat wave of the year, and we haven’t seen these temperatures since September.
