Choir Trapped In CA When Massive Snowstorm Cancels Flight: ‘We Need Your Help’

A choir from the Twin Cities suburbs escaped the Minnesota winter for a competition in Orange County, only to be trapped on the West Coast when a massive storm dropped over a foot of snow on parts of the south metro Sunday.

“Our flights home tonight are canceled and we can’t get back to Minnesota until later this week via plane rides and charter buses across the country,” Bloomington Kennedy Choirs explained Sunday in a social media post. “We’re anticipating about $30,000 in additional costs that we didn’t expect and we need your help.”

Nearly 700 flights were canceled Sunday at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to FlightAware.

The show choir from Bloomington Kennedy High School spent the weekend competing in the Los Alamitos High School Xtravaganza event and celebrating a grand championship win with a trip to Disneyland.

As of Monday evening, the choir, which has dozens of members, planned to travel from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City to Denver as they made their way toward home, according to an Instagram story posted by Bloomington Kennedy Choirs.
