Prepare for more highway lane closures, Fresno County drivers.
Several stretches of Highway 41 will close as crews work on “asphalt pavement repairs,” the California Department of Transportation said in a Monday, March 16, post on Facebook.
“Delays are to be expected,” the state roads agency said, so “motorists should plan accordingly.”

Caltrans plans to close the No. 2 lane of northbound Highway 41 from Sumner Avenue to just north of Adams Avenue on Tuesday, March 17, from 8 to 11 a.m.
The same No. 2 lane will close from just north of Lincoln Avenue to just north of American Avenue from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to Caltrans.
On Wednesday, March 18, the No. 2 lane of southbound Highway 41 will close just north of Central Avenue to just north of American Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the state roads agency said.
The southbound No. 2 lane will close just south of Central Avenue to just south of American Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, Caltrans said.
On Friday, March 20, the No. 2 lane going south will close at Clayton Avenue to South Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
“Closures may continue for longer periods of time … due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur during maintenance,” Caltrans said, adding that the scheduled roadwork is “weather permitting.”
Drivers should “take extra care and allow for additional travel time” while traveling in the area, Caltrans said.
Where can I expect traffic delays in Madera County?
Part of Highway 41 in Madera County will be “under one-way traffic control” for three days starting Tuesday, March 17, Caltrans said in a separate Facebook post.
Caltrans crews will be working on shoulder and curb repairs between Jewel Vista Court and Road 406 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
“Flaggers will be in place, so please plan accordingly as delays are expected,” Caltrans said.
Both northbound and southbound lanes will be affected by the roadwork.
For traffic going south, the flaggers will be at Road 406.
Northbound travelers will see flaggers at Jewel Vista Court.
