SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 68-year-old man has been arrested after robbing a Bay Area business at gunpoint over the weekend, police said.
The man entered the San Francisco business in the 5300 block of Mission Street around 6:42 p.m. Saturday. There, he pointed a gun covered by a bag at a woman inside and demanded money, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
He got some cash from the business and then left the business, police said. The woman ran outside while calling the police, and that’s when the man confronted her, authorities said.
During that second interaction, the man stole the woman’s cellphone, authorities said.
Officers responded to the area and later saw the suspect driving in the area of Seventh and Mission streets. He was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery, according to police, who identified him as Daly City resident Stephen Smith.
The SFPD asks that anyone with more information about the case contact authorities at 415-575-4444.
