The Long Beach Police Department is seeking witnesses of a crash that killed a pedestrian on March 11.

Police say that 65-year-old Long Beach man Daren Duane Roland was walking outside of a crosswalk near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Redondo Avenue around 7:35 a.m. when he was hit by the driver of a 2011 Toyota Camry.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male adult pedestrian lying in the roadway between Redondo Avenue and Coronado Avenue,” Long Beach PD said.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating in the investigation, police said. Roland was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries on March 12.

The crash was not a result of speeding, distracted driving, or impaired driving, police said.
