A man was struck and killed by a vehicle in San Jose on Monday night, according to police.
San Jose police officers responded at about 9:45 p.m. to a collision reported between a vehicle and pedestrian in the area of Almaden Expressway and San Jose Avenue.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries there, and he had not been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office as of Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators determined that a 2007 gray Dodge SUV was heading south on Almaden Expressway when it hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the road from the center median outside of any marked crosswalk, police said.
The Dodge driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The fatal collision is the sixth on San Jose’s streets in 2026 and is the city’s fourth pedestrian death of the year.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Leslie with the SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit at 4264@sanjoseca.gov or (408) 277-4654.
