BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A trial date has been set for a man accused of a deadly shooting in McFarland in 2024.
Michael Mendez, 23, on Monday was given a trial date of April 27, according to court records.
He’s charged with murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and possessing a firearm as a felon in the death of Xavier Lopez, 34, of McFarland.
On Aug. 24, 2024, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of East Perkins Avenue.
Officers found Lopez in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to officials. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
