Duo Beat 3 Ranked Opponents, Went 4-0 Overall At East Meets West Invitational
Senior Gia Fisher and junior Ava Haughy of the No. 9 California beach volleyball team have been named the MPSF Pair of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Fisher and Haughy, playing as the Golden Bears’ No. 3 pair, went 4-0 at last weekend’s East Meets West Invitational in Manhattan Beach, including three victories over duos from nationally ranked opponents. Fisher and Haughy defeated pairs from No. 5 Texas, No. 8 Arizona State, No. 12 LSU and FIU.
Fisher and Haughy performed especially well in clutch moments over the weekend, winning three of their four matches in tightly contested, three-set contests. The pair is 14-3 on the season.
The duo is the first Cal pair to win a conference weekly award since Liz Waters-Leiga and Sierra Caffo were named the Pac-12 Pair of the Week in 2023.
The Bears are in action this weekend at the Death Volley Invitational at LSU.
