FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a jail scam that’s circulating.
The department says someone is making random phone calls to people identifying himself as a ranking member of the department.
The scammer claims loved ones are in jail and asks for money via cryptocurrency or digital payment to get them out.
The sheriff’s Office says these are fake calls, and the department will never ask for money over the phone.
