FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The Fresno County Supervisors approved a measure for the increased costs of concealed carry weapon permits.

The Board of Supervisors held a hearing about the increase in fees for CCW permits.

The new approved rates will take effect on November 19th

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says that the increase in fees will recover operating costs, along with employee salary and benefit costs.

The office says that it does not make a profit from the CCW permits and that it is a cost-neutral move.

The last time there was an increase in price for CCW was back in 2007.

Since then, the volume and complexity of California laws have changed.

The current rate of a new CCW is $219, and a renewal CCW costs $83.

The new rates will be $297, and a renewal will cost $136.

Modifying the permit, updating the address, or removing a firearm will remain $10.
