Sacramento Police say a man was found a gunshot wound in the 1500 block of Waterwheel Drive on March 15.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — An investigation was launched after a man was shot and killed in the South Natomas area, according to the Sacramento Police Department. 

Police received reports around 2 a.m. on March 15 about a man down with a gunshot wound in the 1500 block of Waterwheel Drive. 

When officers arrived, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Investigators took over the scene, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses, police said. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. 

Police said there’s no suspect information at this time. 

The identify of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after next-of-kin is notified.
