SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Early Thursday morning, a commercial structure fire broke out at an abandoned Jack in the Box at 1001 Howe Avenue, near the intersection of Hurley Way and Enterprise Drive.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire) was called around 7:15 a.m. and was joined by Sacramento City Fire crews.Â
Responding firefighters found flames extending through the roof and determined a defensive attack was safest.Â
Hose lines and aerial ladder trucks were used to apply water from the exterior, prioritizing firefighter safety and containment.
The building, which has experienced multiple fires over the past several years, has also been known to serve as shelter for members of the unhoused community.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Metro Fire’s Investigation Team.
Officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
