A 35-year-old convicted robber made his first court appearance Thursday on charges of attempting to sexually assault an unconscious victim during a burglary in Santa Ana 14 years ago.
Eric Damion Luna was charged in September 2012 with assault with intent to commit a sex offense during a burglary, burglary, attempted rape of an unconscious person and indecent exposure, all felonies, along with a misdemeanor count of sexual battery.
Luna was arrested Tuesday and appeared in court Thursday in the case stemming from July 20, 2011. His arraignment was continued to April 9.
Luna pleaded guilty May 2, 2011, to attempted burglary. He also pleaded guilty Oct. 27, 2009, to felony robbery with a gang enhancement, along with misdemeanor counts of elder abuse, street terrorism and resisting arrest.
Santa Ana police and prosecutors did not immediately respond to requests for additional details.
