A suspicious death investigation is underway in Rolando Park area after a 47-year-old man was found dead at home with head trauma, San Diego Police report.

SAN DIEGO — A suspicious death investigation is underway in the Rolando Park area after a man was found dead inside a home on Loma Alta Drive.

San Diego Police said they received a 9-1-1 call just after 4 p.m. from the man’s ex-wife, who went to the home after being unable to reach him. She discovered his body when she entered the residence.

The deceased is described as a 47-year-old Hispanic male, San Diego resident. Police have identified him but say they are not releasing his identity until the rest of his family members are notified.

The victim sustained significant trauma to his head. “There’s nothing that indicate that the decedent in this case was murdered yet, but we’re gonna process the crime scene, we’re going to interview people and we’re going to see where that information leads us, and if it does lead us to a description of a suspect or name suspect we’ll definitely share that information with the community,” said Christopher Leahy, acting lieutenant of the SDPD Homicide Unit.

Police will partner with the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual from the previous night through 4 p.m. Thursday to contact the San Diego Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
