The City of South Pasadena is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Snyder as the new Community Services Director. With more than a decade of experience in parks and recreation, program management, and municipal operations, Melissa brings a strong background in delivering high-quality, community-focused services.
Since joining the City in March 2020, Melissa has served in key leadership roles, most recently as Deputy Director of Community Services. Melissa has demonstrated strong leadership in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Community Services Department, including senior and recreation services, program management, grant administration, and fiscal oversight. Her experience includes budget management and contract administration, ensuring programs are delivered efficiently and in alignment with City priorities. She has also played a key role in citywide initiatives such as strategic planning and public communications, working closely with City leadership, City Commissions and the City Council to support and advance community services.
Among her accomplishments, Melissa led the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that significantly increased community engagement across the City’s social media platforms. She also directed the procurement and rollout of a new recreation management software system, streamlining registration, strengthening data management, and improving overall departmental efficiency.
The City looks forward to Melissa’s leadership and to the continued growth of programs and services that inspire learning, connection, and community engagement.
