BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 30-year-old Lamont man was killed early Thursday when his car crashed and overturned in the Taft area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, at about 2:02 a.m., the CHP Bakersfield Communications Center received a report of a solo-vehicle crash on Elk Hills Road, north of Valley West Road.
Investigators said the man was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla southbound on Elk Hills Road, north of Valley West Road, when, for reasons still under investigation, the car left the road onto the east shoulder, flipped over, and came to rest on its left side.
CHP said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.

Officials are investigating whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s identity at a later time.
