BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The conflict in the middle east is driving up oil prices around the globe.
In California, gas prices have reached $5 a gallon, with some experts forecasting even higher costs at the pump.
Kern County sits at the center of the State’s oil industry and economists say the impact of these higher prices will have a greater effect on our community.
The impact is expected to be seen beyond the gas pump and will affect jobs, food prices and the broader local economy.
