We’re just about a month away from Record Store Day, the aurally awesome occasion when we visit, and love upon, and shine a light over those mom-and-pop shops where music is everything and community is also everything, making a big sort of cool everything soup.
But records and community and relationships and the everything-ness we do love about loving music can also be found throughout the calendar in some surprising and not-so-surprising spots.
Look to VinylCon!, a two-day to-do which will feature dozens of record vendors — and we’re playing it low on “dozens,” as over 100 vendors are expected — all showing up with some of their finest and most sought-after platters.
We won’t delay dropping the needle any longer: It’s happening at the California Market Center March 21 and 22 and tickets are on sale.
A glorious gamut of genres and styles will be represented — “Classic Rock, Hip Hop, Punk, Jazz, and everything in between” will fabulously fill the record bins — and live DJ tunes, and other tunes, will add to the atmosphere.
A bar, food for sale, and the chance to re-enter are also part of the vibe-filled scene.
