The trial continues for last year’s deadly Valentine’s Day stabbing at Santana Row.

Attorneys for the 13-year-old boy accused in the deadly stabbing are trying to argue in a Santa Clara County Juvenile court that their client acted in self-defense when he allegedly stabbed 15-year-old David Gutierrez to death.

The court heard from Gutierrez’s girlfriend, who is now 16 years old. Gutierrez took her on a surprise Valentine’s Day date at Santana Row.

The prosecution presented surveillance video footage showing Gutierrez being attacked by five teenagers who misidentified his red shirt as that of a rival gang.

Gutierrez’s girlfriend, mother and aunt cried when the surveillance video of the stabbing was shown.
