A homeowner opened fire on a person for allegedly breaking into their home.
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — Update: The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 25-year-old Lance Wehner, who was known to the man and woman who live at the house. He allegedly threatened to kill one of the victims in the home, officials said.Â
Wehner was medically cleared at the hospital and has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Felony Burglary and Threats charges.
A man was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound after allegedly breaking into a Rancho Cordova home.
The Sacramento Sheriff and the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Hunt Drive after 9:15 p.m. Thursday night to a report of an adult man trying to break into a home, the agencies’ spokesperson said. The homeowner shot the man after he was told to leave multiple times and eventually broke a window to get inside.
The suspect is hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and has been arrested. The two people involved reportedly know each other.
