Aero Collective
Designed by Aero Collective, the contemporary low-rise project at 1734 S. Barrington Avenue.
Construction is underway on a new affordable housing complex in Sawtelle following the issuance of building permits to Los Angeles developer Passo.
The six-story project at 1734 S. Barrington Avenue replaces a former triplex and is being developed under Executive Directive 1, an initiative designed to accelerate the production of 100% affordable housing. Upon completion, the building will offer 37 studio and one-bedroom apartments, as reported by Urbanize Los Angeles.
Except for a single market-rate manager’s unit, the residences are reserved for very low-, low-, and moderate-income households. By dedicating the entire building to affordable housing, Passo secured density bonus incentives that allowed for a larger structure than standard zoning typically permits.
Designed by Aero Collective, the contemporary low-rise development will not include on-site parking. The project is part of a growing wave of transit-oriented, parking-free residential buildings aimed at increasing density in Westside neighborhoods.
