Three children ran from their California home and called 911 after allegedly witnessing their father assault their mother — before deputies arrived and found both parents dead inside.
In an Instagram post, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. Friday to a home on Edison Avenue in Sacramento for a domestic violence call. When they arrived, deputies breached the door and found an unresponsive adult woman and man, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
A juvenile caller told dispatchers that their father was assaulting their mother, and all three children fled the home before deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said. The children were later found safe.
Sgt. Edward Igoe told ABC10 that the children ran from the house and hid nearby as deputies were on the way.

The juvenile and two other children ran from the home and hid nearby while deputies responded, CBS Sacramento reported.
Deputies saw the woman lying on the ground through a window before entering the home, where they also found the man unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide, and officials said there are no outstanding suspects.
Neighbors described a sudden and chaotic police response in the typically quiet neighborhood.
“There’s a helicopter, there was an undercover cop that came driving down the street, just lots of sirens and looked like havoc for about 5 minutes,” Clay Warix told ABC10.
“It’s sad,” he told the outlet. “I couldn’t imagine what the kids went through and how they dealt with that. I’m happy to see that they’re brave enough to step out and make the call.”
The children have since been placed with family members, officials said, as the investigation continues.
