Dolores: Group Exhibition – FA > Few exhibitions could be more timely than this group exhibition at the Plaza de la Raza Boathouse Gallery honoring the feminist and human rights icon Dolores Huerta. Curated by Glenna Avila and Harley Cortez, the show brings together artists of all stripes to celebrate Huerta’s legacy as a trailblazer and advocate for farmworkers’ rights. The works here provide a space to reflect on the farmworkers’ movement and its impact on California culture through diverse artistic perspective. Books & Brews Bedazzling Night -> Give your favorite read the “main character treatment” at Common Space Brewery on Monday during this bookish crafting session. Your $28 ticket includes all necessary bedazzling supplies and one pour of beer, seltzer, or soda from the brewery. While you’ll need to bring your own book to decorate, Bookish Cafe Gifts will have their mobile shop onsite with a curated selection of titles and accessories. Bergamot Comedy Fest – M > This Tuesday to Saturday, discover the next generation of comedic talent at the Bergamot Comedy Fest, a mission-driven festival hosted at The Crow in Santa Monica. Shark Lagoon Twilight Tuesdays – FA > Head to the Aquarium of the Pacific to get up close with the ocean’s ultimate predators during this recurring free evening at the Aquarium of the Pacific. On select Tuesday this Spring, the AoP’s outdoor exhibit stays open late, offering guests the chance to touch bamboo sharks and observe rays and larger shark species in their habitat. While only the Shark Lagoon area is accessible during these events, the aquarium offers snacks and beverages for purchase on the patio. Just remember that advanced RSVP (free) is required. Naming the Unknown: A LARB Editor’s Salon – FA > On Thursday, join the Los Angeles Review of Books and the Berggruen Institute at The Wende Museum for an intellectual deep dive into the evolution of language. This salon explores how a new lexicon—from “enshittification” to “planetary politics”—is emerging to help us navigate a world reshaped by AI, climate change, and digital culture. Featured panelists include novelist and AI researcher Dashiel Carrera, writer Gideon Jacobs, and Jonathan Blake of the Berggruen Institute, alongside artists from the Bureau of Linguistical Reality. 33rd Annual Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival -> This Thursday to Sunday, the longest-running solo festival for women in Los Angeles returns with the theme “The Strength We Carry.” Celebrating 33 years, this multicultural event showcases extraordinary solo performers from around the globe through six distinct programs. The festival kicks off with a catered Champagne GALA in Hollywood before moving to North Hollywood for a weekend of multidisciplinary performances spanning dance, opera, puppetry, and storytelling. Robot Karaoke -> This Friday, experience “karaoke on impossible mode” at The Elysian Theater’s Skunk Room with another edition of Robot Karaoke. Using “The Weird Algorithm,” the show replaces standard lyrics with bizarre texts—like Yelp reviews of psychics or Craigslist ads—matched syllable-for-syllable to the original tune. Audience volunteers and local comedians attempt to sing these never-before-heard mashups live on the spot. Jim Henson: Experiments in Visual Thinking -> Explore the avant-garde roots of a creative icon at the Philosophical Research Society this Friday and Saturday with the world-premiere program Jim Henson: Experiments in Visual Thinking. Curated in cooperation with The Jim Henson Legacy, the experience moves beyond the Muppets to showcase Henson’s formally inventive and philosophically probing early films. The screening features a rare presentation of his surreal 1969 television drama The Cube in its entirety, alongside the Oscar-nominated short Time Piece.
