Re “Dems must end their defense of K-12 status quo” (March 20): We all want better schools, but we tend to differ considerably on how to get them. Authors Jorge Elorza and Ben Austin offer some potential remedies, but they leave out key elements and statistics. There have to be reasons why over half of California’s teachers are considering leaving the profession.

Cellphones and AI distractions and plagiarism have made a mockery of our educational system. Let’s start there as many other states and entire countries have done. After that, we can address the remaining issues.
