A Long Beach woman was arrested and charged Tuesday for allegedly fleeing the scene after fatally striking a bicyclist in East Atlantic Beach earlier in the day, Nassau County Police said in a news release.
Erin M. Henry, 67, was driving a 2019 Honda HRV east on Beech Street near Scott Drive about 7:45 a.m. when she struck a man riding a bike, police said..
The bicyclist, who police had not yet identified as of Tuesday evening, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Long Beach Fire Department. Henry fled, continuing east on Beech Street, police said.
After locating her vehicle, police arrested and charged Henry with leaving the scene of an incident causing a death, the release said. She is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
