Two people were assessed for possible smoke inhalation after firefighters made quick work of a blaze in a four-story apartment building in Historic South-Central Los Angeles Tuesday.
The fire was reported to be burning in a second-floor unit of a modern, center hall apartment building in the 4300 block of South Main Street around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The first-arriving crews reported smoke was coming from the second floor and managed to locate and extinguish the fire in 10 minutes, she said.
Two people were evaluated at the scene for possible smoke inhalation, but were not immediately taken to a hospital, according to Stewart.
An LAFD hazardous materials crew was deployed to deal with “lithium battery mitigation,” Stewart added.
