Fans of “Bob’s Burgers” will want to mark their calendars to catch one of the show’s stars live onstage.

Dan Mintz, who plans to perform three nights for a total of five shows in San Francisco starting Thursday, April 2, is best known for voicing teenage daughter Tina Belcher on the hit animated comedy.

“They originally picked me to play a boy — Gene and Louise’s brother — but then changed the character to a girl after I was already cast,” Mintz revealed in a 2014 Reddit AMA. “I was very skeptical but when they showed me an animation with my voice it somehow actually really worked with that character.”

Mintz’s monotone delivery is now a signature of the Belcher family’s eldest child, adored for her endearing awkwardness and her recognizable groan during uncomfortable situations.

“I have loved voicing Tina as she keeps evolving into a deeper, more relatable character,” Mintz told the Chronicle.

Mintz started his stand-up career in Boston, and has performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” He’s also written for hit shows such as “Veep” and “Crank Yankers,” and has appeared on “Silicon Valley” and “The Goldbergs.”

Now Mintz is on tour ahead of his first hourlong special — in collaboration with Bento Box, the animation studio that produces “Bob’s Burgers” — set for release this spring.

“It’s animated,” he said, “which allows me to expand in new comedic directions beyond my usual absurd one-liners.”
