San Francisco’s Downtown First Thursday kicks off its April street party with a high-wattage get: Reggie Watts.
The witty, genre-blurring musician — known for his virtuosic live-looping, beatboxing and real-time songcraft — is scheduled to take the outdoor Howard Street stage at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, April 2, for a roughly hour-long set.
The Los Angeles-based improviser and former “Late Late Show” bandleader’s performance follows a 5-7 p.m. happy hour, during which attendees can enjoy open-air drinking zones that allow alcohol consumption.
The series, launched last year, has become a key piece of downtown San Francisco’s post-pandemic recovery push, aimed at reviving after-work foot traffic.
Presented with Another Planet Entertainment, booking a nationally recognized act like Watts underscores how organizers are making First Thursdays a standing date on San Francisco’s nightlife calendar.
