Sal’s Kabob & Gyro Grill, a popular Mediterranean restaurant mini-chain, has announced that it will be returning to Elk Grove. Opening day will be Friday.

This location, called Original Sal’s Kabob & Gyro Grill, brings the restaurant back to its roots.

The original location on Laguna Boulevard was run by husband and wife team Sulaiman “Sal” and Farah Safi for 15 years. It was passed on to new ownership and renamed as Salsal Kabob & Gyro Grill, according to WhatNow.

The Safis are bringing their Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes to the menu, including gyros, kabobs, shawarmas and freshly made falafel. The restaurant also has more Western items like burgers, Philly cheesesteaks and fries.

New to this location will be a dessert program with a Mediterranean-style ice cream in pistachio, walnut and chocolate flavors with layers of baklava.

On opening day, customers will receive 30% off their order by mentioning “Explore Elk Grove” at checkout.

Sal’s other locations in Roseville and Lodi will remain open.
