Pedestrian fatality

A man in his 40s was struck and killed Wednesday night along Bradshaw Road in Sacramento County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported just before 10 p.m. on Bradshaw Road near Countryroads Drive, along the dividing line between unincorporated Rosemont and the city of Rancho Cordova, said Officer Angie Monroe, a spokesperson for the CHP’s East Sacramento office.

Responding officers and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews found the man lying in the roadway after he had been hit by a vehicle, Monroe said. Bystanders attempted to resuscitate the man before emergency crews arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, she said. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to release the man’s identity after notifying his family.
