San Francisco authorities identified the two people killed in separate shootings reported around the same time Tuesday night, as investigators continue working to determine what led to the violence.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified one victim as Samantha Katherine Emge, a 22-year-old San Francisco resident. She was shot on the 2200 block of 22nd Avenue in the Sunset District.

Officers responded shortly before 10:45 p.m. and found Emge with a gunshot wound, according to police. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The second victim, Tertron Johnson, was a 24-year-old man whose residency was not immediately known, authorities said. He was shot on the 1800 block of Sunnydale Avenue in the Ingleside police district at roughly the same time.

Police said Johnson was found with gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital, where he later died.

No arrests were announced as of Thursday morning, and both cases remained under investigation by the San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Detail.

The killings come amid a rise in homicides in San Francisco this year. Through March 22, police had investigated 10 homicides in 2026, compared with four during the same period last year, according to department data.
