Plans to redevelop a property just south of the 101 Freeway in Tarzana have received the blessing of the L.A. City Planning Commission.

At its meeting on March 26, the Commission approved entitlements requested by Nasser Matloob of Tarzana Collection, LLC for a site at 19333 W. Ventura Boulevard. The project calls for the construction of a six-story building featuring 46 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above approximately 2,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and parking for 14 vehicles.
Project entitlements include density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than normally allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, six of the new apartments would be set aside for rent as very low-income affordable housing.
Kevin Tsai Architecture is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which would include multiple amenity decks.

Though taller than the original proposal, the revised plan features fewer homes than the four-story, 70-unit apartment complex originally pitched for the site.
