Playing the same numbers for years in the state’s lottery finally paid off for an Oakland County woman who recently won $1.2 million in Lotto 47, officials said.

The 69-year-old woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, matched the Lotto 47’s six numbers — 2, 16, 18, 19, 26 and 42 — in the March 11 drawing. She purchased the winning ticket at Cloverleaf BP station, located at 28995 Telegraph Rd. in Southfield, officials said.

According to lottery officials, the woman said when she checked the winning numbers after the drawing she “recognized them right away.”

“I woke my husband and said: ‘I think I just won the lottery.’“We got my ticket and looked it over and that’s when I knew I really had just won the lottery,” she said.

The woman recently claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters, choosing to receive a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $832,000 rather than annual payments for the $1.2 million.

According to lottery officials, the woman said the windfall means her husband can retire and they can “relax and enjoy life.”
