STANFORD, Calif. – Day two of The Goodwin concluded Friday afternoon at the Stanford Golf Course with Grand Canyon 20th of 30 teams after an 8 over second round.

GCU is 15 over for the tournament and ahead of No. 18 Georgia Tech in the standings while not being too far back from No. 50 Little Rock (four strokes) and No. 39 Washington (five strokes).

No. 24 BYU moved up three spots to take the overall lead at 12 under along with No. 35 UCLA, who shot up six spots on moving day.

The biggest move of the day for the Lopes was sophomore Matthew Diehl, who catapulted up 47 spots after a 1 under second round. Diehl – and all Lopes – began his day on hole 10 and birdied the opening par 4 while tacking on one more birdie with six pars on his back nine. He is 4 over for the tournament in 78th.

Sophomore Gavin O’Neill maintained his top 30 placement and is 28th at even after two rounds. He tallied three of his four birdies on the back nine and ended his day with five straight pars for a 1 over day. His placement in the standings is above 10 players nationally ranked via Clippd Scoreboard rankings.

Classmate Måns Boje matched O’Neill’s output of 1 over Friday and climbed 12 spots in the standings. Boje had four birdies, two on both the front and back, and is 61st overall at 3 over par.

Sophomore Nixon Lauritzen is 119th at 8 over while freshman Daniel Nilsson is 148th at 15 over.

GCU’s 110 total pars are tied for fifth most among the stacked field.

The third and final round concludes tomorrow evening. GCU will head back to Arizona and partake in the two-day Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes March 31 and April 1.
