San Francisco police are investigating two fatal shootings reported around the same time on Tuesday night in two different city districts, including one that has led to an arrest, according to police.
Officers responded around 10:43 p.m. on March 24 to a home on the 2200 block of 22nd Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood, where they found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
Homicide investigators later developed probable cause to arrest San Francisco resident Nation Wood, 25, officer Paulina Henderson confirmed to SFGATE. He was booked into the San Francisco County Jail. Wood was charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the killing, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced Friday.
Wood is scheduled to be arraigned at the Hall of Justice at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
The woman was identified as San Francisco State University graduate Samantha Katherine Emge, 22, according to multiple reports. She worked as a design assistant at the SF-based Chantal Lamberto Interior Design in Pacific Heights, according to her LinkedIn profile. SFGATE reached out to the firm but didn’t hear back before the time of publication.
Wood attended San Francisco State University for more than two years and participated on a White House advance team while he was an undergraduate, according to his LinkedIn. He described his role as an “independent pre-event site security advisor.”
Emge and Wood were reportedly dating, according to KTVU-TV’s Henry K. Lee.
SFGATE reached out to SFSU prior to publication but did not hear back in time. Around the same time, officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Sunnydale Avenue following reports of another shooting. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds and provided aid before paramedics transported him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died, police said.
The man was identified as Tertron Johnson, 24. No arrest has been announced in connection with his death.
