Echo Park residents are about to get a dose of déjà vu as the Holloway, a sports bar that closed in 2021, reopens in its former Echo Park Avenue home on Thursday, March 26; the building last housed the Lonely Oyster until its quiet closure at the end of 2025. Don Andes and Jena Corbin, also behind the Lonely Oyster and Little Joy, aim to reopen the bar as a neighborhood hang with easygoing cocktails and plenty of televisions to catch games.
At the newly revived Holloway, find a simple menu of cocktails that includes a “perfect” Manhattan, martini, and Dodger margarita, alongside beers such as Guinness, Modelo, and Budweiser. A slim food menu offers cheese and crackers and fries to snack on, alongside larger dishes like a burger, footlong hot dog, and chicken Milanesa sandwich. A kale Caesar in a vegan tofu dressing and a chamoy-dressed fruit cup round out the menu.
The Lonely Oyster’s maritime-inspired interior has flipped into a more clubhouse feel, with deep green walls, warm wood, and sports memorabilia on shelves overhead. A shuffleboard and dart board sit on one side of the bar, inviting crowds to gather around for friendly matches. Outside, a covered patio feels prime for sipping ice-cold beers on warm days.
To mark the return of the Holloway, the bar will run opening weekend programming, including an extended happy hour on for industry professionals on Friday, March 27; all-night DJ sets on Saturday, March 28; and a brunch and bloody mary bar on Sunday, March 29.
