Re “Plan to put tiny cabins for homeless in Lemon Grove clears final hurdle” (March 22): Thank goodness the California Transportation Commission approved the sale of a parcel of land to build 60 sleeping cabins near Lemon Grove. What a deal! For only $11 million, we can now build the cabins, and for $3 million per year we can maintain them. The $3 million, divided by 60 units, comes up with a cost of $136 per night per cabin. There are currently five motels in the area that rent rooms for $65 to $120 per night. How stupid it would be to use the $3 million cost to rent those and not spend the $11 million (and the cost overruns that always happen) instead to build the cabins!
