An adult male and a child were taken to the hospital after they were hit by a car while crossing the street, according to San Mateo police.

San Mateo Police said the pedestrians were crossing the intersection of N. Delaware Street and State Street around 7:36 p.m. Saturday when a car traveling northbound on N. Delaware Street hit them. The scene is near San Mateo High School.

Police said the man sustained moderate injuries to his head while the child suffered minor injury. They were transported to the hospital for additional treatment, but both were conscious and alert.

No primary factor for the collision has been determined, but officers conducted field sobriety tests and did not find any indication that the driver was under the influence of drug or alcohol, said police.
