Early morning garage fire displaces resident, pet in San Francisco

A person and pet were displaced in a fire early Sunday at an apartment building north of San Francisco’s Panhandle, according to officials. 

Firefighters responded shortly after 4:13 a.m. to the 30 block of Hemway Terrace, where a fire had started in the garage, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. 

Officials encouraged people to avoid the area as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames. 

“Firefighters moved fast, and thankfully no injuries were reported,” the department wrote on Facebook. 

The Red Cross was called out to assist the displaced person.
