Tehachapi police on Thursday arrested a man wanted in a Bakersfield killing, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Victor Farias, 33, was arrested by Tehachapi officers pursuant to a warrant for his arrest on suspicion of homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse charges and domestic violence charges, and BPD officers and detectives took custody of him and took him to jail, BPD said.

BPD said Farias fatally wounded a woman during a domestic violence incident the night of March 25 in the 7000 block of College Avenue in Bakersfield.

She was later identified as Yolanda Rojo, 30, of Bakersfield, by the Kern County Coroner’s Office. The coroner reported she died at 10:37 p.m. at Kern Medical, almost an hour after she was stabbed.

Farias fled and his vehicle was found abandoned in the area of Highway 58 and Tucker Road near Tehachapi just after 11:30 p.m. March 25 after an apparent hit-and-run collision, BPD said.
