Crews battle fire in Santee, commercial stores evacuated – NBC 7 San Diego

The Santee Fire Department is responding to a vegetation fire near the 100 block of River Rock Court in Santee.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department says the call came in just after 6:30 p.m. and the fire is located near the San Diego River and the businesses near Town Center Parkway.

Deputies have evacuated nearby commercial stores, including Walmart and Michaels. No residential evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Authorities ask that the public avoid the area until further notice.

If you live in Santee, be aware of increased law enforcement and firefighting activity. A fire is burning in the riverbed near the 100 block of Town Center Parkway.
