Smoke Towers Over San Diego Suburb as Wildfire Burns

Smoke rose into the sky in Santee, California, as a wildfire burned near homes and businesses on Sunday, March 29.

This footage from Natalie Merci shows the view looking east along Mast Boulevard on Sunday, as crews battled the five-acre fire.

Police evacuated shoppers from a nearby Walmart and a Michaels craft store, and later reported that firefighters had stopped the forward progress of the blaze. Credit: Natalie Merci via Storyful
