Lime is introducing the LimeGlider, a two-wheel, sit-down vehicle without pedals, to Los Angeles
Lime is adding a new way to scoot around the city of Los Angeles with the LimeGlider, a two-wheel, sit-down vehicle without any pedals. LA will now become one of the first in the world to get the company’s latest mobility option.
The Glider is essentially a cross between a stand-up scooter and a bike. It sits lower to the group, swaps pedals for footrests, and aims to make short trips much more comfortable for riders who prefer to be seated and are not able to pedal for long periods of time. Lime says the model includes a larger padded seat and an upsized front basket to make errands and commuter hops easier.
Lime is continuing to expand its fleet after adding bikes to its offerings in April.
“We’re continuing to mindfully grow our program with more mobility options while maintaining our focus on rider safety and tidy streets,” said Hayden Harvy, the company’s director of government relations for the U.S. West in a statement. “We’re proud to expand reliable, sustainable transportation in Los Angeles, which will play a vital role in moving Angelenos as we all gear up for major global events like the World Cup, Super Bowl, and the Olympics.”
Company president Joe Kraus said early pilots showed riders kept coming back to use the Gliders for their local travel and called the design a more convenient and inclusive option that still delivers Lime’s core joy factor
Company President Joe Kraus said early pilots showed riders kept coming back to the Glider for local travel and called the design a more convenient and inclusive option that still delivers Lime’s core “joy” factor.
“The LimeGlider makes strides in offering a convenient and inclusive experience to a wider number of riders, while sacrificing nothing in the joy all Lime vehicles inspire,” said Kraus.
