A massive brush fire sent plumes of smoke billowing above a San Diego neighborhood on Sunday, March 29, blocking the sun and creating an apocalyptic scene.

The fire, which started in a riverbed situated between homes and a line of shops, was contained to five acres with forward progression being halted at around 7:15 pm, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

“The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank our law enforcement, firefighting and first responder partners for their assistance and support during this incident,” they said.
