BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Adventist Health announced free immunization clinics for children in Bakersfield throughout the month of April.

The program began providing free children’s immunizations, health screenings and health education to Kern County families in March 1996, marking this year as the 30th anniversary, according to Adventist Health.

The mobile clinics are available to children younger than 18 who are uninsured, enrolled in Medi-Cal or are of American Indian or Native Alaskan descent, organizers said.

The clinic locations and dates are as follows:

Wednesday, April 1: Albertson’s parking lot at 1520 Brundage Ln., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wednesday, April 8: Kern County Department of Human Services at 100 E. California Ave., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thursday, April 9: Family Success Center parking lot at 7915 Burgundy Ave., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday, April 14: Greenfield Family Resource Center parking lot at 5400 Monitor St., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wednesday, April 15: Adventist Health Bakersfield parking lot at 2800 Chester Ave., 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Monday, April 20: Walmart Supercenter parking lot at 5075 Gosford Rd., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wednesday, April 22: New Life Church parking lot at 4201 Stine Rd., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Mobile clinics will close for lunch between 11:30 a.m. and noon, except on the third Wednesday of the month when clinics close between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., according to Adventist Health.

Parents with children older than 5 can make an appointment by calling 661-869-6740. No appointments are required for children 5 years old or younger.

Children younger than 5 and their siblings will get priority due to the program receiving grant funding from First 5 Kern since 2001, organizers said.

Free Hemoglobin testing is available for children and expecting or postpartum mothers, but a WIC, school or doctor’s referral is required.

Medi-Cal cards and immunization cards are required for all visits.
