LOGAN, Utah — Utah State soccer (8-5-5, 3-1-3 MW) celebrated Senior Day in style, finishing out an unbeaten home season at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field with a 7-1 victory over San José State on Sunday afternoon. The Aggies finish the season with a 6-0-3 mark at home and have not lost at home since August of 2023. With the victory, USU also clinched a spot in the Mountain West Tournament.

Prior to the match, USU honored its senior class featuring forwards Kaylie Chambers, Tess Werts and Hannah Roe, midfielder Rine Yonaha, defenders Carli Conner and Isabella Velazco, and goalkeepers Taylor Rath and Ava Gotchy

Following the Senior Day festivities, Chambers then led the Aggie offense with the first hat trick of her career and only the 16th in program history. Chambers first broke through the backline of San José State on a through ball from sophomore midfielder Rachel Reitz in the 24th minute, slotting the shot into the top corner for the game’s first goal. Less than two minutes later, junior midfielder Summer Diamond doubled Utah State’s lead, curling in a left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area.

The Aggie offense remained potent as Chambers scored her second goal off a transition attack with assists from Diamond and freshman forward Samantha Sellers. Freshman midfielder/forward Hadli Barrera then pushed USU’s lead to 4-0 in the first half, scoring off a pass back in the box from sophomore forward Ellie Hendrix following a cross from Sellers.

Out of halftime, Chambers secured her hat trick, receiving a cross from Conner and finding the bottom left corner to make it 5-0. San José State then drew one back with a headed goal from Paige Pineda Alamos in the 56th minute.

The Aggies continued to press the issue over the final 30 minutes. Sophomore Kaeda Wilson extended the lead to 6-1, stealing a ball from the Spartan defense and sending a left-footed shot into the top corner. Barrera then secured her first brace in her career, hitting the post on a first attempt before beating the keeper on the short side to make it 7-1.
