The San Francisco Public Library is a space where people come together, explore, and reconnect with the community, hosting everything from children’s story times to dance classes and free jazz concerts. This April, on select dates, the library is bringing in concerts with a completely different vibe.
In collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony, the library is hosting a series of beautiful classical music recitals. Classical concerts and orchestras in the Bay Area are often seen as few and far between, but with initiatives like this fully funded by the symphony, along with the success of events like Candlelight Concerts at venues such as St. Ignatius Church, classical music is slowly but surely making a comeback.

The collaboration between the library and the symphony gives San Franciscans the chance to experience the city’s talented musicians up close in an intimate setting. It’s a free event made possible by the library, inviting music lovers to enjoy the performance while letting the public library handle all the details.
The concerts are hosted in two different SF public libraries, so depending on what dates are free and which are closer to you, there are two opportunities to experience these free concerts. The musicians for the first are yet to be announced but for the second, we have none-other than Barbara Bogatin and Raushan Akhmedyarova. An internationally acclaimed violinist and celebrated cellist Barbara Bogatin bring world-class talent, award-winning artistry, and years of symphony experience to the stage for a memorable performance.
