Endorsement reflects Ortiz’s unwavering commitment to home care workers, child care providers, aging Californians, and dignity for those who do the work that holds families together.

INDIO– Councilmember Oscar Ortiz’s campaign for State Assembly District 36 announced today that he has earned the endorsement of the United Domestic Workers of America (UDW/AFSCME Local 3930), the union representing more than 200,000 home care and family child care providers across the state of California.

UDW has long been at the forefront of advocating for home care workers and the people they serve, championing fair wages, safe working conditions, and a public home care system that allows seniors and people with disabilities to live with independence and dignity.

Ortiz expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in him by UDW and its members.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of United Domestic Workers of America,” said Ortiz.  “Home and child care workers are the backbone of our communities. They show up every single day to care for our children, our seniors, and our neighbors with disabilities, often without the recognition or compensation they deserve. As your Assemblymember, I will fight to ensure these essential workers have the wages, benefits, and respect they have earned.”

The UDW endorsement further strengthens Ortiz’s broad and growing coalition of community, political, and labor support. Within the last two weeks he has announced endorsements from the California Labor Federation, Inland Empire Labor Council, San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council, UFCW 1167, IE United, California Young Democrats, Assemblymember Mark Gonzalez and Senator Bob Archuleta, with more announcements expected this week.
